Shipping and Receiving Team Lead

Job Description

Accurately receive incoming shipments, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders, storing inventory, and preparing outgoing shipments by packaging and labeling items for delivery, while maintaining detailed records of all transactions and coordinating with carriers to ensure timely delivery; often requiring physical labor like lifting and loading boxes, and involves operating warehouse equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks.

Key responsibilities include:

Receiving shipments:

• Unloading trucks and verifying incoming deliveries against purchase orders.

  • Inspecting items for damage and reporting any discrepancies.

  • Scanning barcodes and recording received inventory in the system.

  • Checking for accuracy of quantity and quality.

  • Properly storing received items in designated warehouse locations.

Shipping orders:

• Picking and packing orders based on customer requirements.

  • Generating shipping labels and completing necessary paperwork for accurate delivery.

  • Weighing product prior to loading and shipping.

  • Loading shipments onto trucks and coordinating loads with carriers.

Inventory management:

• Maintaining accurate inventory records and reporting discrepancies.

  • Managing stock levels and identifying potential shortages.

Administrative tasks:

• Updating shipping and receiving logs.

  • Processing returns.

  • Communicating with internal departments and external vendors regarding shipping and receiving issues.
    

Required skills:

• Physical ability: Ability to lift heavy boxes, stand for extended periods, and bend/reach to access inventory.
• Attention to detail: Accurately verifying quantities and identifying discrepancies.
• Organizational skills: Efficiently managing inventory and prioritizing tasks.
• Basic computer skills: Using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Communication skills: Interacting with colleagues, customers, and carriers.
  
• Class B CDL is desired but not required for application. Company is willing to provide paid training for select individual upon hire.
  
• Must have a clean driving record.

Hours:
Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Work Environment:

• Exposed to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and heat (proper PPE & safety training will be provided)
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
