The Custodial team is an essential part of the Sioux Falls School District. Our goal is to create a safe and healthy environment for SFSD students. We are looking to add flexible and dedicated members to our team that are motivated to help achieve and maintain our goal.

REQUIREMENTS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Good physical health including ability to lift 75 pounds, climb to high and difficult places and work at those places. Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, standing and walking. Repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. Frequent bending, carrying, hearing, lifting, pushing and stooping. Occasional climbing, crawling and reaching.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Advanced boiler training and experience with boilers required. Ability to work unsupervised. Good attendance. Ability to communicate and follow written and oral direction. Ability to demonstrate recognition of equipment malfunction. Demonstrated positive attitude towards people with whom one works, ability to work cooperatively and willingness to accept instructions and training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

1. Coordinates work, schedules, and activities with afternoon shift.
2. Performs preventive maintenance and minor repair on all building equipment.
3. Maintains, operates, and checks operation of heating, air conditioning, ventilation, electrical and mechanical systems. Observes and reports needed repair of equipment, furnishings, fixtures, building and site.
4. Orders and replenishes custodial and maintenance supplies for the building.
5. Assists child nutrition staff during breakfast and lunch periods.
6. Sweeps, dusts, arranges furniture, empties trash and pencil sharpeners, cleans chalk boards and sets up for activities. Washes walls, woodwork, and windows, and cleans and polishes metal surfaces. Cleans and maintains hard and soft surface floors. Wet mops and spot clean hard and soft surface floors. Cleans, sanitizes and deodorizes restrooms and locker rooms.
7. Maintains lawns, landscaping, concrete and blacktop surfaces and playgrounds, including pedestrian walkways snow and ice removal.
8. Sets up and tears down for school activities.
9. Maintains and operates security systems and opens and secures building as required.
10. Works a revised schedule and substitutes for other custodial staff when necessary.
11. Shares responsibility for holiday, extended day, and weekend activities with other custodial staff.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

PAY INFORMATION

Starting salary is $22.88 per hour

Pay day is the last working day of each month.

HOURS & FTE

Monday - Friday, 5:00am - 1:00pm with a working lunch

1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, 12 months
