Ophthalmology LTD delivers treatment for cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease, as well as cornea transplants, oculoplastic surgery, retina surgery, vitreoretinal surgery, and pediatric eye care in Sioux Falls.

We are looking to add a Bookkeeper to our team. This person will be responsible for financial record keeping, accounts receivable and payable, and additional duties to support the accounting team. A summary of the job duties include:

  • Accurately recording all financial transactions, including income and expenses.
  • Ensuring the general ledger is up-to-date and accurate, reflecting all financial activity.
  • Regularly reconciling bank statements, credit card statement, and payroll liabilities with accounting records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Verifying and agreeing that the payments received by billing agree to what hit the bank account and investigating discrepancies. No application of payments to patient accounts will be completed by this role.
  • Processing payments, invoices, income and receipts and entering data into accounting software or databases then filing hard copies. Ability to inquire and question if services are necessary or what they are for so decisions can be made such as cancelling or adjusting the tracked or recording of these transactions within the books.
  • Assisting in budget preparation and monitoring, tracking spending and identifying variances.
  • Analyzing cash flow, identifying potential issues, and providing recommendations.
  • Collaborating with administrative staff to streamline financial operations.

Education and Training requirements:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent. Prefer degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in a healthcare or medical setting.
  • Experience maintaining compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and tools, such as QuickBooks, Excel, or other industry-specific software.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and practices.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Strong mathematical and numerical abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various co-workers.
